Drones are awesome! But most of them have one big problem... the sensor is usually very small and that leads to a low dynamic range. Dynamic range means how much information (exposure stops) between the highlights and the shadows can be captured.
So a high dynamic range can be very beneficial for drones because you usually have a bright sky and some darker objects on the ground in your footage. So you want to get as many details in both the sky and the darker areas as possible.
That alone will definitely give you a lot better drone footage. So here is my tutorial on how to fake a high dynamic range with your drone by combining one over-exposed and one under-exposed video clip with each other in final cut pro xx (FCPX).
